The PE department prides itself on ensuring sport for all and getting pupils active as well as learning about all the different opportunities available within sport. We aim to promote a positive outlook on exercise, provide opportunities for pupils to experience a wide variety of activities and to develop their inter-personal skills as well as their health and fitness. We have an extensive extracurricular programme offering pupils the chance to experience recreational and competitive sport, which we hope will encourage them to continue with physical activity once they finish school.
Our curriculum in Years 7, 8 and 9
In Years 7, 8 and 9, pupils experience a wide variety of activities. Each year they will cover invasion games, athletic events, striking and fielding games and aesthetic activities. Pupils will have the opportunity to develop their individual skills and to participate in small sided games and competitive situations. Alongside this, all pupils will take on roles such as coach, umpire and scorer.
The PE department offers a vast timetable of activities. We run clubs every lunchtime and most days after school. We run our clubs on a rotation basis which changes each half term. On top of this, there are opportunities for pupils to compete against other local schools and occasionally in county and national competitions.
In February, we hold our annual Gym and Dance show which is an excellent opportunity for pupils to showcase their talents in front of an audience
