Year 9 English Prize Giving
As we settle into the new academic year, I'm excited to share some fantastic work from our Year 9 students. This summer, we set an engaging reading challenge that went far beyond traditional homework. Students were asked to read either Noughts and Crosses or Pride and Prejudice, with a range of creative optional tasks to bring their chosen text to life.
The challenge was designed to spark creativity and deep engagement with literature. Students could choose from exciting tasks like creating a movie trailer for their book, designing a themed dinner party inspired by the novel, crafting a playlist that captures the book's essence, or even recording a podcast exploring the text's themes.
Each English class selected first and second place winners, recognising the most innovative and thoughtful approaches to the summer reading challenge. I'm thrilled to celebrate the following outstanding students:
- Grace Shaw
- Lucy Creagh
- Joe Cole
- Leo Blackwell
- Riley Cobbold
- Emilija Dugdale
- William Myers
- Josie Roffey
- Orla Lutton
- Martha Willy
These students received fantastic prizes, including book bundles and Amazon vouchers, in recognition of their creativity and commitment to literary exploration. The photos of our prize-giving capture the excitement and pride of these talented young learners.
It's moments like these that remind us of the incredible potential of our students and the power of imaginative learning approaches.
