Remembrance November 2024
Remembrance Day is always marked at The Ashcombe School with a ceremony involving staff, students and members of the Ashcombe Dorkinian Association and is made more poignant when the 11th November falls on a school day. This year the sun shone and the setting of the Memorial Gates against autumn foliage provided a fitting backdrop.
Readings of the poem For The Fallen by Lawrence Binyon were beautifully read by Year 9 History Students, Sara, Toby, Ava, Amelia, Tom and Monty, after a few words by David Mountain, 1940's alumnus and member of The Ashcombe Dorkinians.
Nate from Year 8 produced a flawless rendering of The Last Post leading to the Two Minutes Silence, followed by Reveille. 6th Formers, staff and the students enjoyed an opportunity to talk to the guests over refreshments in the Library.
A very moving tribute.
