Classical Civilisation Trip to The British Museum
With the Legion – Life in the Roman Army exhibition as an added bonus, 20 of our A Level Classical Civilisation students were excited to join a Student Conference Day at the British Museum on Friday 8th March. It was an A Level Study Day for students to include three academic lectures on subjects associated with Classical Civilisation.
The day was an immersion in the world of classical ideas, writing, thought and artefacts, with lecture topics:
- Lecture 1 focused on artefacts found in the Roman Legion exhibit and what we can learn
- Lecture 2 focused on theatre and performance in the Roman World
- Lecture 3 explored how artefacts found in various dig sites provide insights on what life was like in Britain when the Romans were here.
A fascinating day which helped bring the Classical Civilisation Studies course alive for the students.
