Berlin - Year 13 Trip
In February 2024, 34 members of Year 13 alongside Mr Blackband, Miss McHugh and Mr Townend had an action packed four days in Berlin as part of the school’s modern history and politics extra-curricular opportunities. We visited the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe and the Topography of Terror, among other relevant museums for the Year 13 historians.
One of the most moving and thought-provoking experiences was a trip to Sachsenhausen concentration camp, just outside Berlin. Our guide, Steve, did a brilliant job of explaining the importance of this camp and he helped place into context such a difficult topic. The evenings saw bowling and an escape game provide plenty of opportunities for fun and challenge. We returned tired, but full to the brim with history knowledge and thoughtful experiences. A great trip was had by all and the students were a joy to spend time with.
