The Ashcombe School in Dorking and its students are celebrating excellent A Level results today with all students gaining a place for future study, and with the majority receiving their first choice, opening up opportunities at university, apprenticeships, work, and travel.

Top performers amongst the students are:

Bryony Cowley (3A*A); Natalie Shimoyama (3A* plus A*EPQ); Edward Horton(3A*); Maya Cruz-Mantell (2A*B plus A* EPQ); Ollie Duley (2A*A); Isaac Lister (2A*A); Frankie Patterson (2A*A); Jonathan Hudson (A*AB plus A EPQ); Tommy Croft-Smith (A*AA); Matt Metcalfe ( A*AA), Olivia Persey (A*AA); James Honey (AAA), Katie Glass (2A*B).

Ben Blackband, Head of Sixth Form said: “We are incredibly proud of this year's Year 13. Their results reflect their hard work, determination, and perseverance. It has been a privilege to support such a special group of students, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to the dedicated staff at The Ashcombe School and our Sixth Form team, as well as the parents for their unwavering support. As they take their next steps, we have no doubt they will go on to achieve even greater things.”

One of the strengths of The Ashcombe 6th Form is that it is large enough to run a wide range of courses including for example Further Maths, German and Spanish taught by subject specialists with two thirds of students gaining A* and going on to prestigious universities.

The Ashcombe has an excellent record of Sixth Form students gaining places at their chosen universities or apprenticeship courses, with many each year going on to the most prestigious institutions, something highlighted in the recent Ofsted Report. This year’s students have secured places at: University of Bristol (Mathematics); University of Cambridge (Asian and Middle Eastern Studies); University of Bath (Mathematics); University of Sheffield (History and Politics); University of Birmingham (Environmental Science, International Business with Communications); University of Exeter (Exercise and Sports Sciences); University of Edinburgh (Philosophy and Politics); University of Manchester (Fashion Marketing) and University of Bristol (Civil Engineering).

Headteacher Chris Panting reflected: “What wonderful students! They have been a pleasure to work with throughout their time at the school and their hard work has led to some outstanding outcomes. As Ofsted rightly acknowledged, the Sixth Form cohort are fantastic role models for the whole school.”
