A Family Triumph
They were spooky, they were kooky, they were fantastic….and received nightly standing ovations at four sell out performances of The Ashcombe School’s production of The Addams Family this month.
Audiences were treated to a humorous and captivating performance, filled with outstanding acting, singing, and choreography from the talented Year 7 to Year 13 Ashcombe students. The dedication of the students, along with the tireless work of the band, backstage and lighting crew truly shone through, making for an unforgettable experience.
Music and performance are great strengths at all levels in The Ashcombe School and this dynamic production was able to showcase two full casts of 10 principal characters, an orchestra and a chorus of 110 performers! Plus of course a backstage team, set painters, costumes, hair and makeup and tech crew – so many opportunities for students to get involved and develop skills and have experiences which will last a lifetime.
Head of Music, Edmund Houlston, said: “I couldn’t be prouder - the incredible hard work and talent of our students, the dedication of staff, and the unwavering support from parents and the local community all came together to create a truly magical event. The production is always a highlight of the school year, bringing a real sense of camaraderie and genuine love of live theatre to students and staff. It’s events like this that make The Ashcombe School such a fantastic environment for all students to thrive, both on stage and beyond."
The annual school production is just one of the many community events showcasing talent and performance in the school calendar – with the Upper School Concert on 5th December, the Carol Concert at St Paul’s Church on 17th December, the Senior Citizen’s Christmas Tea, and more still to come.
We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who supported the production including the generosity of our many local sponsors who regularly support school activities.
