  • Saturday 25 January 2025 Serious Swimming! We took a team of 15 swimmers to the Surrey Schools Gala at the Spectrum in Guildford on Saturday. They have been training incredibly hard and put in such a good performance. Most of the other schools competing are independent schools with their own swimming pools, so our team were very proud to do so well.

  • Monday 11 November 2024 Remembrance November 2024 Remembrance Day is always marked at The Ashcombe School with a ceremony involving staff, students and members of the Ashcombe Dorkinian Association and is made more poignant when the 11th November falls on a school day. This year the sun shone and the setting of the Memorial Gates against autumn foliage provided a fitting backdrop.
  • Friday 18 October 2024 Geography Fieldwork - Dorset Delight One of the most important aspects of geography is fieldwork, and recently Year 13 experienced 4 amazing days out and about in Dorset, working towards their A Level non-examined assessment.
  • Saturday 5 October 2024 Debate Success - again Our debate team spent the day at Dulwich College on Saturday 5th October, and showed every sign of continuing last years' successes which got them to the Oxford Union finals! They took part in 4 debates across the day with only 15 mins to prepare for topics like consensus media, immigration assimilation policy, nationalisation of legal services and the US election through popular rather than electoral vote.
  • Wednesday 25 September 2024 Careers Fair 2024 Another hugely successful Careers Fair at The Ashcombe School unfolded on 25th September 2024, with a wider than ever range of Higher and Further Education, company and carer stands in Ranmore Hall, the Library and the gym. With over 500 students and parents attending and 120 exhibitors, the school was buzzing.

  • Tuesday 17 September 2024 Brighton Pavilion - an Art Inspiration As a source of inspiration for art, architecture, design and history, the Royal Pavilion in Brighton is in a class of its own. Year 11 spent very productive days enjoying the last of the summer sunshine sketching and recording this wonderful example of the vision of a king.

  • Monday 19 August 2024 A Level Results The Ashcombe School in Dorking and its students are celebrating excellent A Level results today with all students gaining a place for future study, and with the majority receiving their first choice, opening up opportunities at university, apprenticeships, work, and travel.
  • Monday 22 July 2024 Sponsored Walk 2024 As a very busy Summer Term drew to a close, and with Activities Week still fresh in the memory, there was still lots of enthusiasm for the annual Sponsored Walk ￿ a chance to enjoy the amazing surroundings we live in and raise money for school projects. This year it was ￿10K for Toilets as we look to refurbish the toilet block near the Dining Hall to bring it up to standard with all the other facilities.

  • Friday 10 May 2024 Year 13 Ready for A levels and Beyond With GCSE exams underway from Thursday 9th May, Friday 10th saw The Ashcombe bid an emotional and enthusiastic good luck and goodbye to our Year 13 students. For many, it was the culmination of seven years at The Ashcombe School and offered some amusing and thoughtful reminders of all they had shared, learnt and experienced together.
