  • Tuesday 21 November 2023 Sixth Form Trip to Washington D.C. During October half-term, 29 students accompanied by Mrs Chalmers, Ms Gray and Mr Blackband jetted off to Washington D.C. for a five-day trip to experience the renowned political landmarks and museums in and around the city.
  • Monday 13 November 2023 Bugsy Malone - November 2023 What a performance! Or four performances. Saturday 11th November 2023 saw the curtain come down on a stunning production of Bugsy Malone at The Ashcombe School. Returning after a pandemic and technical break since 2019, the Head of Music Mr Houlston and his incredible staff and student team delighted audiences with the lively staging of the gangster musical.
  • Monday 13 November 2023 Remembrance November 2023 On Friday 10th November 2023, the school marked Remembrance Day with a commemoration of those who had lost their lives. As in previous years we were pleased to share the event with the Ashcombe Dorkinian Association which represents past students and staff members of The Ashcombe School and its predecessor schools including Dorking County Grammar School, Mowbray School, the Archbishop Langton School Beare Green and the Dorking High Schools.
  • Wednesday 11 October 2023 Bugsy Malone - Book Now After a break since 2019, The Ashcombe School is delighted to be bringing back the whole school production in November, with an energetic production of the gangster story with a difference - and Splurge Guns!
  • Wednesday 27 September 2023 Careers Fair September 2023 The Ashcombe School Autumn Careers Fair 2023 was held on 27th September 2023 and attracted over 120 exhibitors and more than 700 attendees, with a wide range of careers, businesses, apprenticeships and Higher Education opportunities. On offer to students from Year 9 upwards and open to other local schools, it was a very busy and productive evening for exhibitors, students and parents.
  • Friday 1 September 2023 Sponsored Walk 2023 The Ashcombe School put on its walking shoes on 20th July 2023 and walked a challenging and beautiful route through the Surrey Hills to raise money for the refurbishment of the lighting rig in Ranmore Hall.
  • Thursday 24 August 2023 2023 GCSE Results Success The Ashcombe School in Dorking is celebrating excellent GCSE results as students collected their grades this morning. Once again, congratulations need to go all our students for their hard work and dedication, particularly as a cohort still emerging from the pandemic disruptions.
  • Thursday 17 August 2023 Celebrating A Level Results The Ashcombe School in Dorking and its students are celebrating excellent A Level results today with a pass rate of 97% and with 55% of students gaining A* to B.
  • Wednesday 24 May 2023 The Ashcombe School U14 Team are National Football Champions On 23rd May, The Ashcombe School in Dorking proudly watched their Year 9 Boys￿ football team step onto the pitch at The Hawthorns Stadium in Birmingham (home to West Bromwich Albion) to battle it out for the winner￿s trophy in the final of the English Schools￿ Football Association Under 14s Schools￿ Cup. In their 10th and final match, the team took on Halewood Academy from Liverpool and won 2-1.
  • Tuesday 21 March 2023 Berlin Trip 2023 In late February, 32 members of Year 13 alongside Mr Blackband, Mrs Vellucci and Mrs Jones had an action packed four days in Berlin. As well as seeing the Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag, we all tried to keep warm in a chilly Berlin. We also visited the Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe and the Topography of Terror, among other relevant museums for Year 13 historians. One of the most moving and thought provoking experiences was a trip to Sachsenhausen concentration camp, just outside Berlin. Our guide, Steve, did a brilliant job of explaining the importance of this camp and he helped to place into context such a difficult topic. The evenings were taken up by, among other activities, bowling and an escape game. We returned safely back to the UK tired, but full to the brim with history knowledge. A great trip was had by all and the students were a real joy to spend time with.
  • Friday 3 March 2023 Inter-House Music Competition Final We are looking forward to The Inter-House Music Final which takes next Thursday 9th March, 7pm in Bradley Performance Area. It promises to be a very special event, with different categories and styles, and all judged live.
  • Tuesday 14 February 2023 Biggest ever Careers Fair at the Ashcombe School The Ashcombe School in Dorking was delighted to be able to host its renowned Careers Fair on 8th February 2023, after a three-year gap due to COVID restrictions. With over 140 exhibitors and attended by over 600 students, parents, and staff from the school as well as from other local schools, it was the biggest event yet.
  • Monday 5 December 2022 National Schools Awards recognition for The Ashcombe School The Ashcombe School in Dorking had reason to be celebrating on Thursday 1 December when they were recognised at the prestigious National Schools Awards evening reception held at the House of Lords. Staff at the school had been shortlisted for two awards: School Business Leader of the Year and Estates Management of the Year and were delighted when Georgina Stone was announced as the very deserved winner of the Estates category.
  • Thursday 17 November 2022 Christmas Carol Concert 2022 We are delighted to be holding our annual Christmas Carol Concert on Tuesday 13th December 2022 at St Paul's Church, Dorking. Carols and music will be provided by The Ashcombe School choirs and music ensembles and the PTA will be serving refreshments. Book free tickets via the QR code.

  • Thursday 25 August 2022 GCSE Results 2022 The Ashcombe School in Dorking is celebrating excellent GCSE results as students collected their grades this morning. This year, congratulations to all our students has a very particular significance given the resilience that they have all demonstrated in the face of so much disruption to their learning - the results achieved deserve the highest praise.
  • Thursday 18 August 2022 A-level Results The Ashcombe School in Dorking is celebrating the first results of traditional exams since the pandemic with a pass rate of 99% and 59% A* to B. The results are an excellent outcome, particularly as this cohort has been the ones to have experienced the most disruption to their learning, and will enable them to go on to a range of successful careers.
  • Thursday 14 July 2022 Activities Week We have been staging our first Activities Week since 2019 and it has been great to see students participating in a range of activities. Trips have gone out to museums, Portsmouth Docks, dry slope skiing, watersports and more. Activities in school included media experts, local businesses, drama, Duke of Edinburgh and various sports. Most students have had a great deal of fun but have also put themselves out of their comfort zone. As we say to all parents visiting the school, what goes on outside of the classroom is as vital to our vision of education as what happens in the conventional lesson.
  • Friday 24 June 2022 Visit to The Oval We were chomping at the bit to be able to run a trip to a live sporting event again, and the T20 Blast Cricket Surrey vs Middlesex fixture gave us an ideal opportunity.
  • Tuesday 29 March 2022 Congratulations to Dom Morgan on swimming success Congratulations toDom Morgan who represented the South East in the ESSA Inter-Divisional champs on 12th/13th March. He won Bronze in the Senior Boys' 200m Fly and in the Senior Boys' Medley relay and helped the South East Team finish 2nd overall. Fantastic result!
  • Thursday 24 March 2022 Year 12 Geography trip to the South Coast Year 12 Geography students spent a day on the South Coast investigating coastal processes and searching for evidence of coastal erosion and deposition.
  • Friday 18 March 2022 Celebrating British Science Week Happy British Science Week! This week, students across Years 7, 8 and 9 have been going mad for all things science. This year's theme is growth, whether that be growing their own spaghetti and marshmallow towers, learning about how the engineering industry grew by building model planes, or growing their own terrarium plants. We really have grown our love of science this week.
  • Tuesday 1 March 2022 Ex-Ashcombe Greg Cackett and team mates in GB's four-man bobsleigh finish an impressive sixth at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games Team GB's four-man bobsleigh consisting of ex-Ashcombe student, Greg Cackett, and his teammates Brad Hall, Nick Gleeson and Taylor Lawrence finished an impressive sixth at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympic Games. This was a fantastic result as they are self-funded, due to the loss of funding on their road to the Olympics. They produced four consistent runs to finish just seven-tenths of a second outside the medal places with a combined time of 3:55.72.
