  • Wednesday 25 September 2024 Careers Fair 2024 Another hugely successful Careers Fair at The Ashcombe School unfolded on 25th September 2024, with a wider than ever range of Higher and Further Education, company and carer stands in Ranmore Hall, the Library and the gym. With over 500 students and parents attending and 120 exhibitors, the school was buzzing.
  • Tuesday 17 September 2024 Brighton Pavilion - an Art Inspiration As a source of inspiration for art, architecture, design and history, the Royal Pavilion in Brighton is in a class of its own. Year 11 spent very productive days enjoying the last of the summer sunshine sketching and recording this wonderful example of the vision of a king.
  • Thursday 22 August 2024 Class of 2024 GCSE Results The Ashcombe School in Dorking is celebrating excellent GCSE results as students collected their grades this morning.
  • Monday 19 August 2024 A Level Results The Ashcombe School in Dorking and its students are celebrating excellent A Level results today with all students gaining a place for future study, and with the majority receiving their first choice, opening up opportunities at university, apprenticeships, work, and travel.
  • Monday 22 July 2024 Sponsored Walk 2024 As a very busy Summer Term drew to a close, and with Activities Week still fresh in the memory, there was still lots of enthusiasm for the annual Sponsored Walk ￿ a chance to enjoy the amazing surroundings we live in and raise money for school projects. This year it was ￿10K for Toilets as we look to refurbish the toilet block near the Dining Hall to bring it up to standard with all the other facilities.
  • Thursday 18 July 2024 Activities Week 2024 We are drawing a close on this year's Activities Week. It has been a week packed full of different activities and experiences which have enabled students to learn, work with new people, have fun and challenge themselves.

  • Wednesday 15 May 2024 Just Brilliant! On Wednesday 15th May, the hard work and dedication of our Year 10 Brilliant Club students were celebrated at a graduation event at University of Oxford to mark their completion of The Brilliant Club￿s Scholars Programme.
  • Tuesday 14 May 2024 Physics, Climate Change - beyond Science at The Ashcombe Science is a popular and exciting subject at The Ashcombe School and there are many opportunities for students to be inspired and explore all its facets further - the last few weeks have seen two different but equally engaging topics explored.
  • Friday 10 May 2024 A Golden Day at Buckingham Palace Friday 10th May was a perfect summer’s day and what better way to spend it than at a Buckingham Palace Garden Party celebrating The Ashcombe School’s Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Awardees in the presence of HRH Prince Edward, The Duke of Edinburgh.
  • Friday 10 May 2024 Year 13 Ready for A levels and Beyond With GCSE exams underway from Thursday 9th May, Friday 10th saw The Ashcombe bid an emotional and enthusiastic good luck and goodbye to our Year 13 students. For many, it was the culmination of seven years at The Ashcombe School and offered some amusing and thoughtful reminders of all they had shared, learnt and experienced together.
  • Tuesday 7 May 2024 Eezykit make it look simple Eezykit, the company set up by 8 Year 12 students, is not only trading successfully online but also was a finalist in the Young Enterprise Surrey Company of the Year competition - and won the coveted Sustainability Award.
  • Thursday 2 May 2024 Good News for Chatterbox In the recent Ofsted inspection visit, Chatterbox was rated Good, not just as an overall rating but in all the areas which Ofsted highlights: Quality of Education, Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development and Leadership and Management.
  • Wednesday 1 May 2024 Duke of Edinburgh's Gold Practice Expedition Snowdonia It might have been the practice expedition, but that doesn’t make Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold events any less challenging as 25 Year 12 students headed to Snowdonia towards the end of April 2024.
  • Monday 29 April 2024 Ashcombe Singers on stage at Dorking Halls The Ashcombe Singers had the pleasure of being invited to sing as the guest Secondary School Choir for the Surrey Arts Primary Schools Music Festival at Dorking Halls on Monday 29th April 2024.
  • Wednesday 24 April 2024 A Day at Colgate-Palmolive Four of our Year 12 students who are part of the Young Enterprise Programme offered by the school, and who have created a company called Eezykit with four other students, were selected to spend a day at the Corporate HQ of Colgate-Palmolive recently.
  • Tuesday 23 April 2024 Spring Concert Spring is definitely here – The Ashcombe School Music Department put on a vibrant Spring Concert on Tuesday 23rd April to a packed hall of music lovers. Elevated to the main Hall for the first time in years, the lighting and the backdrop did justice to the range of musical genres and talent.
  • Friday 19 April 2024 Silver Survival - DofE Expedition The penultimate week of the Spring term saw the Ashcombe Year 11s complete another challenging but successful DofE Silver Award qualifying expedition. The challenge of this expedition should never be underestimated as traversing the South Downs Way this early in the year can come with a demanding variety of weather conditions and this year did not disappoint.
  • Wednesday 27 March 2024 Easter Egg Hunt fun for Year 7 In keeping with the season and to round off the Spring Term, more than 70 Year 7 students joined the Ashcombe Christian Union for an Easter egg hunt around school, learning more about what Christians remember at Easter time. A great time was had by all and chocolate was involved at the end.
  • Saturday 23 March 2024 Students Win their Case - Mock Trial Results 11 students took part in the Surrey Heat of The Magistrate's Mock Trial competition on Saturday 23rd March 2024 in the weighty surroundings of Guildford Magistrate's Court, and were delighted to emerge the winners who will go on to the next stage of the competition in the summer term.
  • Friday 22 March 2024 STEM Event for Year 9 On Friday 22nd March 2024, Ranmore Hall was filled with knowledgeable STEM volunteers and the whole Year 9 cohort of 240 students, exchanging information, ideas and questions about STEM careers.
  • Thursday 21 March 2024 Year 11 Netball Finalists National finalists! A fantastic achievement for our talented and hard-working Year 11 Netball team saw them travelling to Loughborough University to take part in the Sisters n Sport schools￿ competition. The students had played some tough competition along the way to get to this final stage.
  • Saturday 9 March 2024 Oxford Schools' Debate Competition Final They did The Ashcombe proud! Two of our students, Matt and Freddie, won through to the finals of the internationally prestigious Oxford Schools Debate, qualifying from 400 schools countrywide and internationally.
  • Friday 8 March 2024 Classical Civilisation Trip to The British Museum With the Legion Life in the Roman Army exhibition as an added bonus, 20 of our A Level Classical Civilisation students were excited to join a Student Conference Day at the British Museum on Friday 8th March.
  • Thursday 7 March 2024 World Book Day 2024 Bigger and better every year. How The Ashcombe does World Book Day! From creative writing workshops delivered by a published author, to embedding reading activities in all lessons (the students were very excited about being taught PE by Ms Trunchbull), staff posters with their favourite or most influential book, and a cast of literary characters walking the corridors and teaching. Marleys Ghost anyone?
  • Monday 4 March 2024 Rules for Vampires - Author Visit We were delighted to welcome author Alex Foulkes (creator of the Rules for Vampires series of books for young adults) as part of the events taking place for World Book Day 2024.
  • Wednesday 28 February 2024 Business Challenge for Year 8 Wednesday 28th February saw all of Year 8 have the opportunity to take part in a Business and Enterprise game where teams run a manufacturing business for the day. Each group took on the roles of CEO, Head of Marketing, Finance Director, Design and Sales.
  • Tuesday 27 February 2024 Young Enterprise at Old Spitalfields Trade Fair Eezy Kit, the latest Young Enterprise company set up by entrepreneurial Year 12 students at The Ashcombe School, launched its unique idea and product on the world on 27th February 2024 at the trendy Old Spitalfields Market in London.
  • Sunday 25 February 2024 Berlin - Year 13 Trip In February 2024, 34 members of Year 13 alongside Mr Blackband, Miss McHugh and Mr Townend had an action packed four days in Berlin as part of the school￿s modern history and politics extra-curricular opportunities.
  • Friday 23 February 2024 Charities Week 2024 It has been 4 years since The Ashcombe School had its last Charities Week ￿ a frenetic, feel-good explosion of fun and talent from staff and students to raise money for good causes. Back with a bang from Monday 19th to Friday 23rd February, it started fairly quietly.
