Competition time in the Computer Science department
The Cyber Discovery Challenge
Organised by HM Government, the challenge was attempted by our GCSE and A level computer science pupils, with much enthusiasm and a great deal of success.
We have 33 pupils that have made it into the Game level of the competition. They take on the roles of a security agent to crack codes and stop cyber criminals.
Our current school leaders in the competition are: Adam Cobbold and Scott Bree both in Year 10.
The Bebras Computer challenge
This is organised by Oxford University and was completed by the majority of pupils in Years 8, 9, 10 and 11.
In this challenge pupils have 40 minutes to complete as many logic problems as they can. The pupils with most points progress to the next level of the interschool competition and may get the opportunity to attend an inter school competition at Oxford University.
The BAFTA’s Young Game Designer Competition
Currently open to all aged 10-18 years old, pupils enter the competition to win BAFTA YGD Award, along with once-in-a-lifetime experiences with top game makers and industry professionals.
If interested then please have a look at the following website http://ygd.bafta.org/
Pupils will be continuing to work at the competitions in R40 after school on Wednesdays. For more information please talk to Mrs Hockley.
