Welcome to The Ashcombe School!
The Ashcombe School is a genuinely comprehensive school with high academic standards for all, a strong and caring pastoral system and a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities.
We hope that our prospectus and the most recent issue of “Accent on Ashcombe”, give you a flavour of the school, and we would encourage you and your children to visit the school and meet us at the Open Evening. We also have tours on Wednesday mornings when you can see the school at work, and talk to us about any individual issues. Our website gives much information about the school and its activities, including our excellent Ofsted inspection reports.
I have a personal commitment to the quality of education received by every pupil in the school. The very strong, well-qualified and committed team of staff deliver quality lessons, provide care and support and offer a remarkable range of extra-curricular opportunities, which form a distinctive feature of the school. These include the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme and our annual dramatic musical production which both attract high levels of pupil participation. As a Language College we offer many additional opportunities including European visits and exchanges for virtually all pupils, outstanding ICT facilities, Chinese lessons and an annual study visit to China. Our excellent facilities include a new Sports Hall and the new Bradley Arts Centre.
We value and recognise the contributions and achievements of all pupils in many ways, and involve the pupils in decisions regarding rewards, as well as other areas of school life. Through such discussion and participation, we encourage pupils to develop respect for others and understand their responsibilities.
