Committee

The committee is run by Sixth Formers assisted by Key Stage 3 students

 


Meetings

We meet in R23 on a Wednesday lunchtime and would welcome anyone else who is interested in the environment.

 


Eco-Committee Yahoo Group

The Eco-Committee has set up an online discussion group to inform the local community about the work at The Ashcombe and to run online questionnaires.

 


News and Events:

Sixth Form Garden:  Over the Summer 2008 term, the Eco-Committee designed a garden for the Sixth Form students. They wanted to create a place where students could relax and enjoy the outdoors. The Entitlement Gardening Group are now adding plants to the area.

Visit to ISOenergy:  In February 2008 the Eco-Committee visited ISOenergy in Horley to find out about renewable energy.  We are now investigating options for the school site.

Fair Trade Fortnight:  In March 2008 we made cakes and cookies using Fair Trade ingredients.  These were sold in school at break and lunchtimes.  Thanks to staff and students we raised £93 for the school charities.

Eco-Committee Trip On 31st January 2007 the Eco-Committee visited Leatherhead Recycling Centre, to find out exactly what happens to our recycling.

 

Eco Schools: The Ashcombe School has achieved Bronze status. Congratulations to the Eco-Committee who are to be thanked for all their hard work.
